Dark side.

Hello lovelies!
Fall is the best time to experiment with bold, dark lip colors. I absolutely love to try out different colors.

Don't be afraid to. I use to be afraid of what other people would think of me if I walked in to school with red lips, or even just lipstick on in general.
I worried about those peoples thoughts, yet they were the ones who wore pajamas and sweats to school everyday.
Go figure.

Work it.
 Fear nothing and no one.
Wear what YOU feel confident in.
It's the best look of all.

I stick to more deep pinks/purples in the fall because I have green eves. A little flex of purple in any lip color automatically makes green eyes pop.

The shade shown above is Rebel, by MAC. It is absolutely beautiful, and may seem really dark in the packaging, but is so wearable once it's on.

What are your favorite lip colors for autumn?
Let me know!
Until then,

Icons: Tess Munster

I need to talk about something very near and dear to my heart tonight.
I have learned a lot since high school.
A lot.
Not only in a classroom, but from society.

People are really, really nasty.
People can be so cruel, and people don't care.
People don't look at you for the person you are inside.
Instead, they stare viciously at your skin, your clothes, your hair, and instantaneously make a judgement. They don't care if your heart and bones are made of pure gold.

I use to let it bother me.
I'm a plus sized girl
I use to be mocked, bullied, and tortured about my body and clothes in junior high and high school. If I could go back and hold my hand through the nights that I cried about what people said about me in the hall that day, I wouldn't let go. I'd tell myself it would be okay because in reality, words are just that, words.

I study fashion.
It's a sick industry based off appearance.
But, it's a beautiful world to be a part of. A world that I choose to submerge myself into daily. It's not all anorexic models and plastic, though.

Look deeper.

Two weeks ago I got the opportunity in my public speaking class to give a tribute speech to one person, who has given me hope. Someone who has given me a different outlook on my own personal body image.

Her name is Tess Munster.

She is a plus size model and body positivity activist.
She is an absolutely beautiful, strong woman, who is dedicated to breaking the mold and ideas of what a perfect woman should look like.

I envy her.
I look up to her.
She is incredible.

Tess strongly posted on Instagram tonight, with the caption "Apparently some smooth talking guy dubbed this week #fatshamingweek" and I thought it was about time to bust out my new crop top that says "it's about what I really want", because it is. I want to wear what I want, do what I want, and look how I want regardless of what others might say- & I do. So to all of you keyboard warriors: Pick on someone your own size. You wouldn't know what to do with all of this even if you WANTED."

Think about this...

If we were all stripped down to our bones, we all look exactly the same. Who are you to judge someone else based on their appearance? Who are you to tell someone they are not good enough because of their weight?

Goodnight lovelies,

My thoughts on BANGERZ. Rant.

Okay, I'm obsessed.
Miley Cyrus is a genius.
AND She is going to the bank with her wild antics and constant media attention.
Love her or hate her, she is in the limelight folks.
Not to mention, BANGERZ, her new album, was #1 on Itunes within like 3 hours of being released. Love her or not, she is an icon in our generation. In my eyes, she is what Madonna was to her generation. She is making a statement.

Her documentary on MTV was basically an explanation of her recent actions. If you haven't seen it, and have an interest in pop culture, you need to go google it.

For those saying she is not a "positive role model", she is not the only person in the world to look up to. Plus, she is not Hannah Montana anymore. She is no-longer under the control of Disney. She is a grown woman, who is free to express herself at any point and time.

I think if you look further into her songs, she is deep. Her songs have meaning. Not necessarily all of them, but many on the album are really, really good.

My favorites have been:
Adore you
My Darlin' (feat. Future)
Maybe You're Right
Drive
And of course...Wrecking Ball.

They're catchy. You can't help but blast them in the car and sing along.

End Rant.

What are your thoughts?
let me know!

My random in college essentials!

Hey lovelies,

So I'm a junior in college, but this is my first year away from home. I'm realizing how important certain things are to have, that I really didn't think to worry about at home.

Here are my top 10 random college necessities!

- A stapler. Now, I know most libraries and academic buildings have a stapler that's available to use, but if you're running late, and your professors are insane, if you hand in an un-stapled paper, they hand it back to you. Make sure you have some type of stapler, or paper clip at all times!

- Lysol spray. For everything and anything you can think of. This stuff does miracle work.

- A steamer. Mine is a mini "to-go" one from Bed Bath and Beyond, and was the best $20 I've ever spent. My college is very strict with our dress code, and if we show up looking like we rolled out of bed, they ask you to leave, and you get a zero for the day. But in general, wrinkles, unless purposely added to clothing, are not cute.

-Neosporin, bandaids, ect. The weird thing about college is, when you get a cut, your mom is not there to help. Weird, I know, right?

- Some type of food, or snack. Eating at the dining hall every single day and night gets old kind of quick. Granted, my schools main focus is culinary, but whatever. My go-to dinner alternate has been the Annie's White cheddar organic mac & cheese cups. They're quick to make and cheap to buy, and yummy too.

- Makeup wipes. Seems simple, right? We always have makeup wipes until suddenly the packs you've purchased all seem to disappear. Cleaning your makeup off your face is one of the easiest ways to avoid breakouts.

- A charger. For whatever electronic device you may be using. Like any other 20 year old girl, I'm a train wreck without my phone or laptop. Make sure you keep either a full charge, or a "juice-pack" with you, in case you need it!

- Postage (stamps, envelopes, ect). I don't know about you, but I'm 20 years old and I've never had to buy postage. Our generation is so use to emailing and texting, that we forget the postal service exists. I'd prefer a letter to a text any day.

- Toilet paper. Again, something I've never had to purchase at home. Regardless of the common idea that girls don't poop, we do. And the four of us go through toilet paper like it's nobody's business. It's just something you don't think of, but when you run out, you realize how important it is!.

-Patience. This first month has been the adjustment period for me. I've never lived with anyone else, aside from family. I love my room mates, but this is a very different life than living at home. Sounds cliche, but keep calm. Take each day for what it's worth, and embrace every second of college. Whether you're in bed, eating popcorn and watching lifetime movies til 3am with the girls, or frolicking around the new town, enjoy it. Make it worth your while.

I hope everyone's having a beautiful October so far.
What are your essentials?
Let me know!
