Ranting: Babies, bitches, and body image.

I'm apologizing in advance for the cursing.
Don't say I didn't warn you, but I can have a mouth like a sailor if you really piss me off. I need to say something, and I need to say it right now before I literally scream.

Here's a little story for y'all, and if you don't think this society is fucked up, you might now.

There was a little girl and her mother shopping in Target the other day, and they were your typical cutesy-blonde-skinny mother/daughter combo pack.Crocs and all. The daughter was maybe 10 or 11, old enough to know that if you don't have anything nice to say, you don't say it at all. But clearly, her bitch of a mother didn't teach her that, or just never learned that herself.

As they walked past the plus size/maternity niche of the store, (you know, the tiny corner that's hidden right behind clearance, and before dog food), the daughter looked at a, honestly, maybe size 14/16 woman who was on the main aisle and giggled, and her mother just kind of ignored it.

The daughter then tapped her mom, and asked...
"Do fat people always have rolls? Look at her back. That's like, gross."

I actually had to pick my jaw up off the floor.
Because instead of, you know, saying something to her daughter about not being so rude, or blunt, or obnoxious, she proceeded to laugh, and ignored it. She was in clear listening distance of the woman of the aisle, who quickly put down the maxi skirt she was looking at, and walked away.

I wanted to grab the dress, buy it, and give it to the woman, then go back and smack that little idiot in the mouth, and slap her mother.

How dare you?
Teach your child to be respectful of people of all sizes.

And she's not like, gross.
That's called like, skin.
You know, like, what your fucking body is coated in.

Little bitches like this go into middle schools and make fun of beautiful girls who don't know anything different than being called fat. That's bullying. You're raising your child to be a full blown bitch. Just putting that out there.

Wear whatever the fuck you want, whatever fucking size you may be.
If you're comfortable in a bikini and you're a size 26, rock that shit like you're on MTV spring break.

We get a limited number of days to spend and enjoy and live to the fullest, and we should not be held back by false pretenses about what we should, or shouldn't look like.

Just a little something to think about.
Goodnight.
xo,
k.

Outfit of the day: July 7, 2014.

Outfit of the day: July 7, 2014

Dress: Torrid (clearance, shockingly)
Bag: Target (Merona)

Plain and simple, I'm obsessed with this new dress and purse.
The dress is a hi-lo silhouette with a tie right under the bust to help accentuate the waist. There's a super cute ruffle detail across the bust as well. You can't tell from here, but it is a tank top dress!

I'm thinking to do an updated "What's in my bag" post soon, let me know if you guys would like to see that!

Do you.

Sometimes it's late, and my legs are restless, and sleep just doesn't come.
And I wonder if your day was good.
I wonder if you're happy where you are, and how your parents are doing.
Sometimes I wonder if you ever even wonder about me, because for years you were my only thought.
I think about the days when my hand flew out the window of your truck and we sang along to our favorites.
I wonder if you think about how my day was.

I wonder if you ever even cared about anyone other than yourself.
Meeting you made me realize that you were the selfish one, not me.
I hope you're happy where you are, because you taught me so much.

I'm happy, and my day was fine.
You had your chance.
And if you were wondering about me, or miss me at all...
don't.

Long hair, should care.

I'm such an infant when it comes to haircuts, it's kind of pathetic.
So instead of cutting it, I find surefire remedies to keep my hair strong, and healthy.

Recently on both of my addictions, Pinterest and Youtube, I've been hearing massive amounts of buzz over coconut oil and it's benefits for hair. I was very skeptical at first, because being Italian, my hair is already oily, and adding any sort of oil based product seemed like it would end in disaster.

But disasters are fun sometimes, so I gave it a shot.
I found a mask on Pinterest that seemed to have a ton of likes and reposts.
It consists of two tablespoons of coconut oil, 2 egg yolks, and a splash of water.

I mixed it in a bowl, and once it was all thoroughly mixed, I started at my ends and lathered up to my scalp.
I suggest putting the mixture in a mason jar and shaking it though, the process will probably move a lot quicker.

I left it on for about 15 minutes, and then washed it out with shampoo. No conditioner after.
I blew it out, and my hair was so soft, and shiny, that I figured when I woke up the next morning it would look like a hot mess.

Instead, my hair held a wave, and stayed frizz free until I washed it next.
I swear, it was a freaking miracle.

If you have long, thick hair, I suggest this mask with every ounce of my being because it works wonders.

(Ps. Coconut oil is really easy to find, and since it's gaining popularity, you can find it anywhere. I found mine at the Christmas tree store, but I've also seen it at Walmart, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods.)

Let me know what you guys use as your "refusing to get a haircut" remedy.
Until then,
x

Summer.

Oh hello there, strangers.

Once again I'm here apologizing for my not so shocking absence from posting.
I have to admit, I took a break just to enjoy the end of my school year, and the beginning of summer to myself. The last month of my school year was probably the most joyous time I've ever had. I fell so head over heels in love with Charlotte, with my suite mates, and with my new found friends, that taking time away from them to post seemed silly to me.

But I missed writing. Even though a majority of my posts are fashion/cosmetic/favorites posts, this blog is my outlet. I've been craving coming back and being able to fully delve into this safe haven. So please forgive me for the short break.

When I was away at school, I learned to begin to be free of insecurities.
Until this year, I never walked outside in a tank top.
Silly. It's hot out.
But I had such a fear of being made fun of, that I'd completely cover up. It may seem foolish to you, but being able to walk outside in a tank top, in front of people, was such a weight off of my shoulders.
I got a beautiful tattoo that means the world to me.
I should be able to show it off without the ever present fear of people laughing at my arms, my back, or my stomach.

Embrace yourself and learn to work through your fears, and things just seem so much more simple.
Wear the brightest lipstick you can.
Wing out your liner to the stars.
Make your messy bun as messy as you'd like.
As long as you feel beautiful, you radiate happiness.

Let me know what you lovelies would like to see.
I can't wait to post more.
Until then,
xo
