Studs on studs on studs.

Studs on studs on studs : Recent Purchases

I am beyond in love with these little stud earrings. I ordered them from @Jin0516 on Poshmark. If you don't know what Poshmark is, I recently described it in a previous post. But basically, it's an app where you can buy, sell, and trade- clothing, shoes and accessories. I've seen everything from the Chanel flap clutch, to men's socks on poshmark. But I saw these little studs and could not resist.
Together, they cost under $20! The seller was beyond sweet, and has some really amazing things for sale in her "closet". If you want to add the app, it's a great way to get rid of things you don't use anymore! For instance, I have clothes in my Poshmark closet that I actually forgot I owned, and never wore. Why keep things that we don't use when someone else can get a ton of use out of them?
Also, I mentioned this in my other post about Poshmark, but if you use my promo code when you sign up, you get a $5 credit towards a purchase! The code is HXVCC. I'm not sponsored or promoted by this app at all, I just think it's a really cool way to shop.

Plus, in this nasty New York heat wave, I've been wearing my hair in a bun like it's nobodies business. So these add a little sparkle to any look, while staying edgy and uber feminine

Hope you all are enjoying this heatwave.
We all need a little vitamin d, right?
Talk to you all soon!
Until then,

The lovely bubbles.

Hello again!
So...

Have you ever been slapped with news that automatically makes you want to shop?
Kind of like hearing that the college you're transferring to has an extremely strict business dress code. Right?
I found that little bit out about two weeks ago, and being the fashion junkie I am, I began shopping.

The necklaces shown are statement pieces called rightfully so, bubble necklaces.  JCrew is widely recognized for being the original creator of these beautiful pieces.
JCrew, though, charges around $150 per necklace.
Me, being the college student I am, couldn't imagine spending that on anything but gas and books.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing JCrew in any way, shape, or form. I love the idea of the necklace and I'm sure the quality of their necklace is probably incredible. The two I purchased look identical to the original bubble necklaces, but cost....drum roll please...
$5.99 each.

I purchased them from an Ebay seller about a week ago and they arrived today. I am so pleased with the quality. If you ebay search bubble necklace, you can find so many in all different colors. In all honesty, I truly believe you get what you pay for. I was expecting much less than what I received with these necklaces. You can find this style of necklace pretty much anywhere now, though. I've seen them everywhere from Ebay, to Etsy, and boutique type sites like Marley Lilly.

I'm planning on styling them with a collared shirt, so that it adds a little bit of fun to a plain button down.  Once I figure out an outfit with them (which I have many in my mind right now), I'll either do a post, or feature them on my Instagram - @Kristendari.

How do you style statement pieces?
If you have instagram, take a photo of your favorite piece of statement jewelry and tag me in it, once again @Kristendari so I can get more ideas!

I hope you guys are having a beautiful end of May!
Talk to you all soon.
Until then,
-K.

Itunes Lovin' - May 2013

Hey,

Once again May has been a big music month for me.
I suddenly realized that I really could care less what people think about my Itunes playlist.
Is that something we were/are still actually self conscious about? ( probably just me again..)

I rediscovered some old lovers in my library, as well as some new favorites this month.
In no specific order, they consisted of :

- She Talks to Angels ( Cover): Kree Harrison

- Breathe Again : Jimmy Robbins

- When She Says Baby : Jason Aldean

- Anthem Part Two : Blink 182

- Hard to Love ( Acoustic) : Lee Brice

- Up Up And Away : Kid Cudi

- You Set Me Free : Angie Miller

- Give In To Me: Country Strong Soundtrack

- Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (Cover) : Greg Laswell

- Tangerine Sky: Kottonmouth Kings

- Wake Up: Coheed And Cambria

- I Hope Youre The End Of My Story: Pistol Annies

- Can't You See : Marshall Tucker Band

- The Mango Tree: Gareth Bush

- Shape Of My Heart: Backstreet Boys

- Simple Man : Lynyrd Skynyrd

- Lucky You (Cover): Taylor Edwards

If that wasn't diverse enough for you're liking, I'm sure if you come back in a month and check my next playlist, you'll be satisfied. The thing is, if a song comes on and it brings me back to a beautiful moment in time where I was really, really happy, or really really SOMETHING, I'll listen to it. If I can picture my windows rolled down singing the versus at the top of my lungs after a long day at work, I'll download it.

No judgement here.
What does your playlist look like?
Are you self conscious about your purchases like I was?
Let me know!
Until then,
-K.

(And a beautiful Memorial day weekend!)
See you all soon.
Until then,

Praying for Oklahoma.

In the wake of the devastating tornado that occurred this past week in Oklahoma, I'd just like to take a second to send my deepest thoughts and prayers to all those who have lost everything. The entire country is on your side, Oklahoma.

We're all praying and wishing only the best for you all.

In these weeks to come, we pray that there will be some light in the darkness.
United we stand.

All of my love,

-K.

Foam it up, Foam it up..

I think I've discovered a new holy grail summer skin product.
I don't know about you guys, but in the summer, I prefer to wear as little possible makeup as I can get away with, without looking like a gremlin. The only thing about me wearing any makeup, is that I get very self conscious about my skin. If I'm not wearing makeup, it's because I'm confident that my skin looks clear, and clean.

I live in New York, so starting in about late spring-early summer, the weather starts to warm up and become a bit humid. And when I say late spring, I mean this week. Like right now.
BTW - I don't know how I'm planning on moving down south when I cant stand humidity in 75 degree weather. Deep breaths..

Anyway...
I found this product about two weeks ago and have been using it twice a day since. It's the Formula 10.0.6 Best Face Forward Daily Foaming Cleanser in the passionfruit and green tea scent. I'm pretty iffy when it comes to cleansers, because I tend to break out from them. This cleanser, on the other hand, has helped to completely clear my skin up, and prevent oils.
The product description from the bottle reads: " This fresh foaming gel cleanser washes away oil and impurities for a sparkling, clear complexion. Green tea and chamomile pacify while passionfruit balances skin. Your skin looks clean, clear, and healthy everyday." I second that.

If you guys try this, let me know how it worked for you!
Enjoy the beautiful weather this week.
Talk to you soon!
Until then,
-K.

Flashback Friday - Lip Style

Hey guys,

So...
I have to admit that I have an obsession with lip products.
I'm not a huge lipstick person, but I'll try any type of lip balm, gloss, or stain.
These little pots hold one of the best lip products I've ever tried.

They're called the L'Oreal Hip Intensity Jelly Balms. They are the consistency of a lip gloss, and have the pigmentation of a lipstick. The thing is, they are incredibly hydrating, and work really well on dry lips. They're an older product now, so you may be able to find them in stores randomly, but you're more likely to find them online at sites like All Cosmetics Wholesale, and I've also seen them on Amazon as well.

The colors I have from left to right include :
1. Succulent : A mauvey-purple/pink, perfect for everyday use.
2. Delectable: A pin-up style cherry red.
3.Ripe: Coral/Orange, the best summer lip color I own.
4.Plush: An essential baby pink.

These colors work really well on most skin tones, and are very long wearing. If I'm not wearing alot of makeup one day, or no eye makeup at all and I'm already running late, I'll use one of these with a tiny bit of concealer under my eyes and I'm ready to go. They're so good to have just to throw in your bag. The best part? Since they're an older product, most websites have them on sale for under $5!

What is your favorite lip product?
Let me know!
Until then,
-K.

Time flies.

I honestly cannot believe how fast time flies.
How cliche, right?
Wrong.
Whoever said that first was honestly so brilliant.

If you would have told me five years ago tonight that I'd be graduating college in a week, I'd laugh in your face and run off with a bunch of people I haven't spoken to since.
Because if you would have told me two years ago that I'd be graduating college in a week, I'd probably ignore you and continue studying like a mad woman, not knowing where my life was headed.
Yet tonight, I'm here, after a long week of stress and aggravation  knowing that I am seven credits away from my associates degree, and two months away from the biggest change I've ever been faced with.

My advice to anyone who is finishing up with any type of schooling right now, is to a take a deep breath, relax for even a moment, and realize how lucky you are, and think about where you were five years ago. Could you imagine yourself here? And in five years, will you be proud of this week?
I know how stressful this past month is for anyone in school, but think about the weeks to come, and how amazing summer will be. It'll all  be worth it in the end. If even for a second you can say that you were proud of how hard you worked to get to where you are right now, it'll be worth it. I promise you that.

We made it this far.
Here's to the weeks, months, and years to come.
Here's to us.
-K.

NOTD: On Wednesdays, We Wear Pink.

Nail of the Day: Essie Figi
Because on Wednesdays, we wear pink.
Forgive the really terrible picture. It's finals week and as I'm posting this I really should be studying for my fashion history final on the 1920's-1970's.
Anyway...
I am so in love with this color. I initally only purchased it because I had heard so many rave reviews from not only gurus, and bloggers, but also some of my close friends. I'm more of a dark nail kind of girl, but this color looks so good. Your hands look clean and fresh. It's deffinitly a staple polish to add to your collection.
The only thing I dislike about this polish is the fact that you need a couple of coats to really get the true color from it. It tends to be a bit streaky with one and two coats. I didn't use a base, though, so that might help stop the streaking.
This color is perfect for spring and summer, and I think it would look amazing on tan skin!

Here's a better picture, from google.

Typically Essie nail polishes sell for about $8-$9. If you have an Ulta by you though, you can use your coupons on these polishes! Just a little FYI.

Hope you all are having a good week, and if you're taking finals, my heart is with you.
Best of luck everyone!
Until then,
-K.

Blog loving - advice style?

Hey guys,

So clearly you can tell by this page that I love writing about and reviewing products. But writing in general is something I really really adore doing. I think most people could write something better than they could possibly say it. It's an easy way you express yourself.

Recently, I was excited to hear that an advice piece I wrote for " Get Smart Coaching" is going to be published on their website either 5/27, or 6/3! It's a column piece directed towards upcoming high school graduates, and my advice on how to handle these last few weeks of school.

Here's their mission statement :

"Get Smart Coaching's mission is to make sure every young

women on the planet knows how awesome they are. Through positive use of social media

young women can change the world."

All of their social media links include:

https://www.facebook.com/getsmartcoach
http://www.thegetsmartcoach.com/Home_Page.html

I think this site is an incredible outlet for women, both young and old to give advice to us fellow girls. If we have the knowledge, why not spread it?

Look out for my post and let me know what you think!
Until then,
-K.

App Discoveries: Poshmark

I've recently discovered something that we can all use.
SOMETHING THAT MAKES US SOME MONEY, and cleans out our closet at the same time!

Okay, so here's the deal..

There's an app called Poshmark. Basically, it's the coolest thing ever.
What you do, is take a picture of an item that you want to sell : items can be brand new with tags, or used and in good condition. You list the price you want to sell it for, give a description of the item, and a couple other little details like size and what-not.
Here's the best part. You list it in your "closet", and people can buy it! ( You can buy products from other people's closets as well!)The app sends you an email when the item gets purchased with a prepaid shipping label, which you attach to a box. They tell you in their FAQ's to use priority mail boxes from the post office, because they're free! Then, the money you earn from the purchase can either be sent to you in a check, or directly deposited into an account.

It's literally that simple. I'm in love. I have so many things that I've never worn, but someone else could get good use out of!

I'm not being sponsored or anything to write this. I just really think it's a great idea to make some extra cash, while getting rid of stuff you'll  never wear! If you join the site, and use my code, you'll get a $5 credit towards any item you want. Enter code HXVCC when prompted, and the $5 is yours!

So far, I've sold a dress, a shirt, and a pair of oxfords.
Let me know if you guys try this, or make any money!
Until then,
-K.

My Sneaky Red Lip

I'm a huge fan of a "vintage inspired" red lip.
But they honestly suck to do.
They never stay in place, and always smugdge onto your teeth, and instead of looking glamourous, and elegant,
you end up looking like
this..
This is a perfect example of what not to look like.
My trick is to ignore the obvious product that you would use for a red lip.
What is that you may be thinking? (Or you may still be looking at that picture of Paris Hilton and wondering what went wrong, and if you are it's okay because I am too.)
No red lipstick.
Yes, I said it.
I never use red lipstick when I wear red lips.

Think about it...red lipstick is what actually smudges because it's a cream!
Here's my trick..

1.Apply a little tiny bit of lip balm to fill in any dry spots on your lips.
2. Use a red lip liner and outline the lips, and then fill in completely.
3. Use a balm stain type product over the liner.
*4. If you feel like it, use a tiny bit of red or clear gloss.

Products I use:
Nivea lip butter
Revlon Colorstay liner for lips in Red #675
Revlon Just Bitten Stain in Gothic
A tiny bit of clear gloss

That's all it takes. The liner makes the already longwear balm stain stay in place all day. It's not rocket science, I know, but mastering a beauty trick takes patience. Here's my little trick/gift to you all.

So, don't be afraid to wear a kick ass lip color this summer.
Brighten up your whole look with a bold pink, coral, or red lip and make a statement.
Let me know if you try this, and let me know how it works for you!
Until then,
Kisses!
-K.

Itunes lovin'.

Oh hey,

I've been on a music buying kick lately.
I can't stop.
I guess I could be buying things worse than music though, right?
( I say that mainly to make myself feel better.)

If you've followed my past few posts, you'll know I'm a huge country music junkie. It should come as no surprise to anyone that a couple of the new downloads are, infact, country.
I don't understand why everyone hates on it so much.
Country music is down home, windows down, wind in your hair kind of music. I think we all need to have an open mind. I will listen to literally anything.
If the words are true and the beat is good, what does it matter what genre it is?

The thing is, it doesn't matter if the songs are new or old. If  I can listen to something and not get physcially sick of hearing it ten thousand times, I'll download it. I see it as a personal investment. If it makes me happy, and I genuinely love the song, why not?

PS: I love anything acoustic. Any type of music done acoustically, automatically has my vote.

Anyways..

My past weeks downloads have gone something like this:

- See You When I See You : Jason Aldean

- I Love It : Icona Pop ft Charli XCX

- Dayum Baby: Florida Georgia Line

- I Want Crazy : Hunter Hayes

- 6th Avenue Heartache : The Wallflowers

- One Headlight: The Wallflowers

- I Won't Give Up (live): Lennon and Maisy Youtube Sessions

- Run : George Strait

- Southern Comfort Zone (Acoustic): Brad Paisley

- Beat this Summer ( Acoustic) : Brad Paisley

- With You: Chris Brown

- Come and Get it: Selena Gomez

- Spin Me Around : Patent Pending

- #Beautiful : Mariah Carey ft. Miguel

What are your favorite songs of all time?
Let me know!
Until then,
-K.

What's in my bag? May 2013

Hey guys,

I am so obsessed with watching the " what's in my bag/purse" type of videos on youtube. I'm not sure what it is about them that I love, but I always like to see what other girls carry with them! I guess it's nice to see what other people consider their essential bag items.

So above is everything I'm carrying right now on a day to day basis, dumped out on my floor, minus about 300 receipts, and Starbucks straw wrappers.

Some beauty items I always carry. I know, 4 hand sanitizers. I cannot stop myself from buying them. I can always find myself reaching for them. Three lip balms is sufficient, right? The Nivea lip balm is my new favorite, but the baby lips and Nivea cherry are so good. I always carry the nailpolish I'm currently wearing just in case of chips. This one is Revlon's " Cool Beige". A bobby-pin can always come in handy, and so does a small mirror ( the pink snowflake round thingy. Good description, right?). The small red container is actually something you may not see all that often. It's paper soap strips. I always try to carry some sort of soap( just in case you use some kind of public bathroom, and they don't have soap!). Vanilla scented body lotion never leaves my bag. The two pink bottles are both perfume. The one is a Travalo, that I have filled with MAC's Turquatic perfume, and the other is an old Paris Hilton Perfume.

Above you can tell that I'm actually a huge nerd. Yes, that is a 1935 calculator( for my business math class). Under is my favorite thing in my purse. I swear by using an agenda, and it's managed to keep me organized for the last four semesters in college. I monogrammed it with a vinyl sticker I purchased off Etsy. Two huge paperclips may seem silly, but I have a class that requires us to print out like five power-point presentations at a time, and they actually are a life saver. I'd take a mechanical pencil to a pen any day, that's why there's a couple there, but since I am in college I do actually have to grow up sometimes and use a pen. Along with a  highlighter, I keep a mini stapler and hole puncher. I told you I was a nerd.

The rest of the crap is miscellaneous. Two pairs of sunglasses, a hair tie, and loose change that I haven't yet put into that black coin purse. A gold ring, an extra contact, and ear buds. All that's left is a giftcard, my business card, and a ticket stub from the most incredible concert I've ever been to.

And that's all of the junk I pile into my purse. I typically have my phone in there as well, along with a notebook. I use to carry my books in my purse too, but I usually will only do that if I'm carrying my longchamp tote.

What are your purse essentials? Am I missing anything?
Let me know!
Until then,
-K.

Mayday, mayday..

Dear Earth,
Could ya slow down just a little bit so that maybe this year wouldn't fly by so fast?
Is it actually May 2nd already, or is this some kind of sick joke?
Just curious,
Love,
The girl in disbelief.

Now, I'm not sure if it's just me, or students in general right now who are loving and absolutely hating the month of May. I think there are general pros and cons to each month, but May really enjoys confusing the hell out of all of us. Here's my pro's and cons..

-Pro: It's finally starting to warm up, and there's not 18+ inches of snow on the ground!
-Con: All of the really obnoxious and disgusting bugs decide it's okay to come out...and it's actually not okay.
-Con#2: It's still about 65 degrees here, which in theory is not THAT warm. Apparently, someone sent a memo to girls that it's okay to wear shorts ( and when I say shorts I should actually be saying underwear with a denim lining) with Ugg boots. WHY. Please someone explain to me why Ugg boots with shorts was ever considered "trendy" by anyone, anywhere, ever..

-Pro: The spring 2013 semester is almost over, which means summer is right around the corner..
-Con: You read it, the spring semester is almost over. I have two weeks left...which also means that finals week is in one week..Stress anyone? I think the most terrible part of finals week, is that you know that it's coming, but since it's so nice out you neglect your notes and decide to drive around and relax...or maybe that's just me.

Alright, I'll stop whining for now. I'm really genuinely happy that it's May, and it's finally starting to feel like spring. This semester in college was my absolute hardest. Shout out to me for saving two math classes until my last full semester. Thank you, advisement board, for not telling me what a terrible decision that was. Anyone who is in their final semester of school knows that the stress right now is out of control. I find myself thinking all the time, " when did we all grow up?" I feel like I was just walking across the stage at my high school graduation, when in two weeks, I'll be walking across the stage getting my Associates degree.

I find it insane how fast time flies. It's so very cliche, but here's how I see it. I've had my IPhone since 2011
( which seems like last year, right?) and I was going through the pictures on it.  I have pictures from prom, and graduation, and senior day (circa 2011). I have photos of my god daughter  from the day she was  born up (2012) until about a week ago. This beautiful, precious little (not-so-)baby anymore has grown up right before my eyes. She now can walk...and talks a mile a minute. Wasn't she just born? It's easy to see how fast time is really going as you see someone grow.

PS: Just want to give my best friend of 20 years the biggest congratulations in the world for receiving the most incredible internship opportunity in the world. No one deserves it more than you, and I am so proud.
London's waiting. And I'll  be waiting for stories when you get home!

April wasn't too bad, right? And even if it was, it's now long gone.
Here's to the pro's of May, and the months to come.
Here's to the sleepless nights and studying that are to come as well.
So here's to us, and another month in the history books.

I hope you all have a lovely May.
Thank you for following along with me through April, it means the world and more to me.
I'll be sure to post more soon.
And until then,
-K.
