Product Review: Marc Jacobs Lolita Palette

Marc Jacobs : Lolita

I have been absolutely craving this palette since it was released about two months ago, and finally, I got my hands on it thanks to Santa :)

First, I need to point something out. The palette itself, meaning the overall packaging is gorgeous. It is what you would expect from Marc Jacobs. The packaging is not bulky, at all, it is seriously amazing.
It contains 7 shadows : 3 matte, 4 shimmer. All of the shadows are wearable, which is why I chose this palette out of the four in the line. It is a bit pricey, at $59, but I would totally chose this over the  Naked 3 by Urban Decay if you're looking for an everyday shadow palette. ( Personally, out of all 3 of the Naked palette, I think Naked 2 is hands down the best for your buck.) My only, not even complaint, but concern about two of the shadows is that they are a bit glittery, so you may get a bit of fall out if you don't use a base or primer. But aside from that, I think this is an absolute gem.
If you'd like to see any looks from this palette, leave a comment!
Also, has anyone tried any of the other products from the Marc Jacobs line?
Let me know!
Until then,
-K.

Wrapped in red.

"In all this white you'll see me like you never did,
wrapped in red."
Hello lovelies,
I just wanted to put together a more glamourous look for you for the holidays. Whenever I think of Christmas makeup, I think of a beautiful red lip, and a vintage inspired eye look. The skin is very simple.
I used Revlon Colorstay foundation, Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer, and Rimmel Stay Matte powder to achieve an absolutely flawless finish.

Next for eyes, blend a matte skin color shadow over the
entire lid to establish one color and hide any darkness or veins that may show through. Next, I used a gold sparkle shadow from the Calvin Klein one quad in 700 boho just across the lid, and onto the socket, and blended it into the crease with a tiny bit of tease from the Naked 2 palette.  I highlighted under my brow with a matte white shadow, then applied a brow gel to hold everything in place.
Next, is my signature thick winged liner. Just a trick when applying liquid liner, make sure you set it with a black shadow after. This ensures that it will not budge for the rest of the day! A couple coats of mascara, and a smudge of black shadow under the eye, and the eye look is complete.

The lips are so easy. I used a red lip liner, and set it with a red eyeshadow. Sounds weird, and you're probably like "what the hell is this girl thinking?" Matte lips are incredibly on trend, and setting the lip liner with a shadow will make sure you don't end up the laughing stock of the holidays with lipstick all over your teeth.

What is your go to look for the holidays?
Let me know!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!
Until then.
Love Always,
                                                                             -K.

My wish for you.

I just want to take a second to wish everyone who has followed along with this page, a very merry Christmas and a beautiful new year.

Thank you so much for all of the constructive criticism, and positive feedback I've received over these past months. They've been so helpful, and I love hearing what you guys think.

Thank you to my getsmart family, without your strength and love, and the opportunity to write with you beautiful women, I wouldn't have half the confidence I do today.

This has been a huge year for me, and honestly I cannot believe 2013 is almost over.

I wish you all nothing but love, laughter, and happiness in the new year.
From my family to yours.

The good in goodbye.

Time for a ramble.
I haven't done one of these in a while with how crazy busy I've been with school, and work, and you know, just juggling in general.
And I don't know if you guys do this too, but sometimes it just feels so good to let it all out.
A vent session if you will. So welcome.

I'm 20 years old.
So for the past three years now, I've been out of high school.
And just today I was looking back on old pictures, and conversations on facebook and twitter, and realizing that there are a few people I haven't spoken to in a while. Regardless of if it's on good or bad terms, they're no longer there. And I think it took me those three years to realize that those people who are no longer there, are gone for a reason.
In life, we constantly look for people to surround ourselves, whether it be for humor, conversation, love, or simply companionship, we like having someone there.

We all need someone.
Someone to love, and to laugh and talk with until 4am about nothing. But people change. And like I said, some of them leave for a reason. I've said it before, and until recently, I never thought I'd be this type of girl to "fight like hell" to hang on to some of those people.

But some of those people don't care.
Don't care about the nights that you spent discussing the stars and the future and everything between.
And here's the kicker.
As strong as you've fought, and as tough as you may think you are, it hurts when they leave.
It hurts to see people that you never ever thought would leave, actually leave.

Moving on isn't easy.
It's just not. There's no proper coping mechanism or tutorial I can preach to make it easier. But here's what I'm doing to keep calm and carry on. I'm looking back, even if just for those few minutes browsing through a newsfeed. Remember how much fun it was. Remember the butterflies, and the laughing, and the love. And then turn the page.

Think of it almost as a toast.
" Cheers to us, and the past, and the reason they call it the past. It's over for a reason. Here's to moving on. And here's to happiness, and new friends, and new laughter. And new love."

Sometimes the ones who were there for years slowly drift away.
And even though it's hard, it's okay.

End rant.

Cheers to us, and cheers to a beautiful December.
I hope everyone is hanging tight through finals.
Until then.
Love always,
-K.

Holiday Gift Guide : Stocking Stuffers for her!

Opening my stocking is probably my favorite part of Christmas morning.
I love little, thoughtful gifts, that I know I'll use, and Santa always seems to put in just the right necessities!

The thing is, stockings don't have to be just from Santa.
Whenever I'm making up a "giftbag" for one of my friends for Christmas, instead of just using a chintzy bag, I use a stocking. It makes it a big more, you know, holiday-ish.
( I know, I'm creative, call me Martha Stewart.)

For under $50, you can stuff a stocking with gifts for your mom, friend, cousins, and even girlfriends!

Try things like these:

Candy and sweets.
We're girls, we need a little sugar to boost us up. And we love candy. So there's that.

Hair ties, bobby pins, and makeup wipes. The core three essentials a girl never wants to run out of, but always seems to.

EOS is a huge brand when it comes to lipbalms and skincare.
They offer extremely cute packaging on their products, and the quality of the products are amazing.
-EOS Wedge Pack - Ulta ($4.99)
-EOS LipBalm Holiday 3 Pack - Ulta ($7.99)

Real Techniques Kits
I've talked about real techniques on my blog before, but it's a brand of makeup brushes created by Nicole and Samantha Chapman of Pixi Woo, youtube beauty extraordinaire's.

- The starter kit, and the core collection kits offer 4 different brushes for either the eyes, or the face.
The kits are $17.99, which is an incredible price for four of the highest quality brushes that you can buy in the makeup industry right now.

pop fizz clink resin iphone 5 case

Kate Spade Phone Cases
Kate Spade is one of my all time
favorite brands.
The designs are always classic, yet still trendy and modern.
Every girl needs a little love on her phone.
The cases range from $35-$50, so if you're looking to add a bigger ticket item to the stocking, definitely check these out.

Cotton On Sunglasses
Anytime I want to wear sunglasses, I instantly grab my "Risky Business" sunglasses from Cotton On.
I can never find a pair of ray-ban-esc sunglasses that fit my face better than these. And in store and online, they are 2 for $10! They're a classic shape, so they'll never go out of style!

Marc Jacobs Fragrance - Rollerball TrioRoller Ball Perfumes
My favorite thing to receive on Christmas is perfume. I am a total fragrance junkie, and I love trying different scents. Sephora, Ulta, and Target all offer high end brand fragrances in roller ball sizes, so you can try multiple scents without splurging on a full size bottle.
Try scents like Dot or Daisy by Marc Jacobs, or Light Blue by Dolce and Gabana. ( around $30)

What are you thinking of gifting for Christmas this year?
Have you started your shopping yet, or are you procrastinating like me?
Let me know!
Talk to you soon,
-K.

Let me know what you guys think about vlog type videos!
Sorry for the tiny picture, but it was filmed on my Iphone, and I am the least technologically advanced person when it comes to any type of uploading, so heaven knows this was a big task.

What are your drugstore finds from this month?

4,000.

So this past week, my blog hit 4,000 hits.
I know it's not a crazy high number, like 5 million, but to me, it might as well be.
I can't believe how much has changed since I started this little engine that could.
And I am incredibly thankful for the support I've received about it.

Like I said, a lot has changed since I started blogging, and honestly I've learned a lot about myself these past few months.

For instance, there is a huge difference between Long Island, and the rest of the world.
There's so much out there that I wouldn't have had the chance to see if I would have been the stubborn ass I was two years ago and stayed home. I wouldn't have met the people, seen the places, or learned the things I'm learning now if I didn't take the leap and actually come here.

Also, I learned you cannot rely on others for your own happiness.
I am always the first one to try to make those around me laugh.
And that's not a bad thing, that's not what I'm trying to say.
But once in a while, you need to put yourself first.
Because people, even the ones you'd least expect, will take advantage of you.
Do not expect others to do the same for you, as you would do for them.

And, it's okay to freak out. Let it out. Scream at the top of your lungs. It's okay.
Throughout highschool and community college, I had a fear of showing how truly stressed out I'd get.
Finals, working full time, balancing life and all the random bullshit that goes on gets hectic.

No matter how young you are, you have the right to absolutely panic.
It's okay.
It happens.
But it gets better.
So much better.
Especially this past week, I needed to just scream.
Finals week, and trying to deal with a job that I'm not fond of, can make a girl go crazy.
Here's a tip. If you're in finals mode and need to study, but are too stressed to even look at your books, drive somewhere.
Blast your music, windows down, to somewhere beautiful.
Take a few deep breaths, and take in fresh air.
I promise it works.

Lastly, things are bound to change in time. It's the only thing that's inevitable in this life, that things will change. People change. Don't expect someone to be the same for years at a time. Feelings change. And when they do, you need to take it for what it's worth. You can fight hard as hell for forever, but if someone doesn't feel the same about you, you can't change that. It's terrifying. Absolutely horrifying to watch someone walk out of your life. But if they're leaving, there's a reason for it. Fight like hell. If they're meant to be there, they'll realize it in time. But don't put your life on hold for something that may never happen.

Be grateful for the little lessons that may seem like nothing at the moment.
Be happy.
Be loved.
And thank you again, for four thousand clicks.
I appreciate it more than you could ever imagine.
Here's to 4,000 more.
Until then,
love y'all
-K.

Two month update : November, 2013.

Hello lovelies,

I say it in all of my monthly update type posts(Instagramistory & Itunes Lovin), but the days are flying by lately.
A bit too quickly if you ask me.

I can't believe I've been living on my own in North Carolina now for two months.

The thing is, I never thought I could do this.
As tough as I've been, and as strong of a front as I put up before I left, I was absolutely horrified of this.
I cried almost every night before I left, because I was so unsure of my choice to move away from everything I have known.
This was the biggest thing I've ever done in my life.

But two months later, here I am.
I think I am the happiest I've ever been.
I'm so proud that I didn't turn my back on my dream like so many people do.
I met my best friend and my other half.
I haven't laughed as hard as I do with him in a long time.
And I am so, so incredibly happy.

I'm finding myself.
I'm finding that there's a world outside of Long Island.
Because for twenty years, that was all I'd ever known.
I'm not saying that I don't miss home.
Because I do.
I miss my Joseph, and I miss my family more than anything.

But if there's one thing that I'm not, homesick

I haven't found myself pining over going home. I'm actually shocked by this.
Because if you were to ask me a year ago if I could be away from my home for this long, I would have laughed in your face and drove to Nissequoge blasting Bayside.
I do have moments where I wish I could be back in Suffolk county, but overall, I'm content here.

How are you all doing?
Let me know!
Until then,
-K.
